Sarina just cut all my hair off! PJ & I took advantage of her superior hairstyling skills and now we look more than swish.

We have challenged the children to find something that looks different about the children's area inthe morning when they wake up..... (US!)

Here we are, folks - the annual sleepover is back - we have just settled the kids down to watch "Beverley Hills Chihuahua".

We have played "Find the Glowstick in the dark", the Headband Game, ate pizza and farted lots... sorry, mums and dads!

grub girls were in at sparrows fart whipping up a delicious brekkie for us - ricies, cocoa pops, cornflakes, FRUIT, and crumpets slathered in golden syrup!!!!

the children are now being picked up in dribs and drabs, the ones left behind are watching a dvd, waiting for mum, or dad, to pick them up, so that they can go home and have a little nap. it was a long nite!

but seriously, children are demanding - especially when you are having technical difficulties!

the kiddies are all snuggled up, watching the golden compass, (monster house was first choice, but that was technical difficulty mentioned before). It's ok Tawanda - we opted for easy option of replacing dvd rather than ring you for IT support!

we have done in the darkness (or stack stalker!) kids thought it was great! pj and ali were busy being library ghosts - all goood fun.

pj is sprawled on the couch, watching the dvd, while the rest of us are gearing up for being awake allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll nite!

we are just finishing up the last of the stories - this is alibrary afterall, smelli ali started with Barney puppet books, and the proceded with DONT SAY THAT WORD (but dont tell gail we stole it off her shelf!) jason is guest reading harry highpants, and that old chestbutt, i mean chestnut walter the farting dog has been dragged out - but for some reason the kids looooove it, maybe its the chance to express themselves with fake wind???? who knows!?!?!?!

soon we will begin 'in the darkness'......... and before you start searching the library catalogue (www.upperhuttlibrary.co.nz) for it, its not a boooook, whoooooooo........

So, we are feeding up the little darlings on sugar - nah just kidding, PIZZZZZZAAAAAA! and then a little milo, mmmmmmmmm!!

The rules have been explained, boundaries set, and hopefully if your child is here you won't be receiving a 'come and pick them up' phone call.

We have a had a few rounds of pictionary, P(oo)J cheated, LOTS, and his team won, but mostly because of good behaviour!! PJs in charge of the boys, and they are all very well behaved.

Kids are in their jammies coffing their faces, so are the leaders for that matter! The leaders look better in their jammies:)

Thanks to the grub girls who have put their exciting friday nite lives on hold!! your awesome Airdre and Robyn.

Our last child has just walked out the door, the Leaders have left, I'm about to get on the train and all is well that ends well.

Thanks to our Grub Girls for such SCRUMMY food; thanks to the awesome Leaders for their total stickto-itiveness and laughs, and most of all, thanks to the kids. If you hadn't have been here, it would never have happened.

well with them feed and watered, they have a choice of charlottes web dvd or looking at books! and more are looking at books! go the LIBRARY!!!!!!

Ali nearly fell asleep, about 2 mins ago, but luckily she was awoken by milo being sprayed around!!!!!

Jason has gone home, for a little nap, ali is planning to sleep for the rest of the day, christine and i have too much to be getting with to sleep, and i think pj may be in ali's boat.

And the kids i would imagine are gonna crash sometime today - it is hard work having fun!!!!

ricies, cocoa pops, corkflakes, crumpets and fruit salad, washed down with a warm milo! What a treat!

The kids are all packed up, dressed and eating away!

For the library ladies - we only had about 3 books returned in the night, and it was coooooold in the front foyer! I also shelved all the dvd sleeves and cases for you!

And don't worry folks, the kids will be helping with the dishes! Teehee

Jase has quietly toddled off for a wee sleep... no, we're NOT going to draw on him; we're not really that mean! PJ is lounging on the reference couch, JUST ABOUT to nod off. We could always draw on HIM. Christine is on checks, Wendy is doing mending (can you believe it?? I think it's just to keep her awake!) and I am bringing you this latest update.

Things are very quiet on the children front... somebody snores rather loudly! We do checks every 10 minutes, just to make sure things are as they should be.

...and we've lost Jase! I think he's been swallowed up by the 400's section in the non-fiction. I wonder if we will find him curled up under the stacks, snoring? It's our mission to find him! And draw on him with vivid-marker if we can!

The heaters are rattling... it's cooling down a little. We had a sleepwalker! He wandered around a little bit and when Wendy gently asked him if he was okay, there was no reply. When she gently asked him if he was asleep, the answer was yes. He's all safely tucked up again now!

It's still nice and quiet - the movie is very humourous! we are setting ourselves up for the night ahead, with some coffee, some energy drinks, and some pizza!

Jason - in the hot dressing gown - is the only one who still thinks he is having a little nap later!

I have decided to award Jase the "Best Dressing Gown" trophy... I'll try and get a sneaky photo of it when he's not looking; it's GREAT!

Well, I have to sneak off and watch some movie - having it up on the projector screen with surround (uh HUH!) is just like being at the movies.

it is soooo dark in the library, ROUND 2 of our stack game. The kids are being so good for us, no running - we are very impressed!!

Jason and Christine-in-the-hat have found some realllly awesome hidey hole spots, but the kids are pretty good at sussing us out.

The beds are made in anticipation of the movie, what do you reckon folks? Open season, charlottes web, or my first visit to the library with dad - ali's favourite!!!

well the pizza went down a treat, with one of the young guys managing 5 and a half pieces!!! no leftovers for later on tonite tho:(

Ali-belly is now reading them some wonderful stories, 'walter the farting dog', (with the fart machine - no seriously - it's a fart machine!), who flung dung?, one more sheep and 17 things i'm not allowed to do anymore (i discovered this book in the processing pile and i was in hysterics!!!!)

PJ and i have been around the library, kiddy-proofing and looking for good hiding posies for STACK STALKER! woooooooooooooooooooooo!

Jason is still not in his PJ's, and christine is in her civvies!! ali, wendy (moi) and pj are in the requisite gears!

Thanks to the lovely grub girls - Robyn and Liz - who delivered the pizza, kept us watered and gave us FRUIT!!!! Liz is off home to bed - nana! - and they will back to dole out gruel in the morning - just kidding it will be something delicious, and of course will include our new toaster!!!!

Well, my throat is hoarse and we have only been here for how long????

The kids - all 19 - i think have got name tags, decorated in beautiful artwork, carefully laminated by MOI, and hole-punched by the lovely christine-in-the-hat.

They have had the rules explained to them, emergency exits and toilets, they have to be asleep by 8.30 if they are in my team anyway, and that we will be doing yoga for kids in the morning.

At present we are passing the time till pizza by playing pictionary - it's the 'purple n'orange pj eaters' ahead of the 'bring it on' team (thats pj and christine's team:P)

bring on the pizzzzzzzza - we are starving!!!

We're trying to get it all flash-as for you guys to look at tomorrow night!

For those of you who haven't heard of our Sleepovers, they started as part of the NZPost Book Awards activities. Us librarians and other cool staff know that books/libraries are definitely NOT boring, so we thought this was a fun way to celebrate them. 2007 is the third year of the Sleepover and there's no sign of things slowing down yet!

We follow the same timetable format (which we'll tell about as it happens tomorrow night - don't want to spoil things!), so watch out for the exciting blow-by-blow accounts as they happen.

You'll be getting posts all over the place, from all the Leaders, about all sorts of things - what we're doing, what we're reading, the games we're playing and the scrummy things we eat for supper (who said PIZZA??), so stay tuned, guys.
